IN MEMORIAM

At the annual Twelfth Night celebration of the C.G. Jung Society at the home of Buster and Nancy Alvord, Traudl and Al Selves were among the first to arrive. They sat on one of the living room sofas and greeted new arrivals. Traudl looked radiant in her black dress. Several new arrivals exchanged greetings with her. Traudl shared that she had been struggling with her asthma, but was doing all right.

On January 9th, 1996, two days later, Traudl did not survive her last asthma attack. Upon hearing of her death, her many friends from the Jung Society were shocked.

Traudl was one of the long-time supporters and volunteers of the Jung Society. She served as recording secretary from September 1991 to May 1994. During the last two years she assisted Diane Bogue in collecting admission fees at our events. One of the things Traudl was best known for was her wonderful liver patÈ. Members would look forward to it being part of the evening's menu whenever the group gathered socially.

Traudl was Austrian born. Her marriage to Al brought her to the United States. She was a creative spirit who expressed her inner world through painting. Besides her art, Traudl's loves were her husband Al, her garden, travel, and cooking.

Traudl nurtured a long-time interest in psychology. This interest opened the door to her studies of Jung. Traudl was a graduate of Seattle University with a degree in psychology. She had hoped to become an art therapist.

The Jung Society extends its sympathy to Al. Those of us who knew Traudl will always hold a place in our hearts for her. We will truly miss Traudl's wonderful, positive presence at our events. We remain grateful for Traudl Selves' many contributions to the Jung Society.
